Post-Eccentric Flywheel Underwater Undulatory Swimming Potentiation in Competitive Swimmers

چکیده

Underwater undulatory swimming (UUS) influences overall performance, therefore swimmers should try to maximize it. This research aimed to: 1) assess the effects of an activation protocol based on post-activation performance enhancements upon UUS; and 2) evaluate differences between males females. Seventeen competitive (male = 10; female 7) participated in a cross-sectional study designed test UUS at 10 m after traditional warm-up (TRA) adding TRA 4 maximal half-squat repetitions inertial flywheel device (PAPE). A speedometer electronic timing system were used obtain kinematic variables such as time, frequency velocity 10-m, which processed with MATLAB®. paired sample t was applied determine PAPE. An independent PAPE Participants reduced time cover compared (males: 5.77 ± 0.44 5.64 0.46; females 6.34 0.80 6.09 0.66; p < 0.05). In addition, trends towards improvements obtained for However, push-off showed different tendency genders (p conclusion, including improved performance. Some Further confirm if benefits eccentric overload would depend either gender or other components fiber type composition.

Vortex re-capturing and kinematics in human underwater undulatory swimming.

To maximize swimming speed athletes copy fish undulatory swimming during the underwater period after start and turn. The anatomical limitations may lead to deviations and may enforce compensating strategies. This has been investigated by analyzing the kinematics of two national female swimmers while swimming in a still water pool. Additionally, the flow around and behind the swimmers was measur...

Undulatory and Flagellar Swimming

SYNOPSIS. We present a mathematical model and numerical method designed to study the fluid dynamics of swimming organisms. The full Navier-Stokes equations are solved in a domain of fluid within which an organism undergoing time-dependent motions is immersed. Of interest are both the dynamics of a single organism and the relationship of its morphology to its motility properties, as well as the ...

Undulatory swimming in viscoelastic fluids.

The effects of fluid elasticity on the swimming behavior of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans are experimentally investigated by tracking the nematode's motion and measuring the corresponding velocity fields. We find that fluid elasticity hinders self-propulsion. Compared to Newtonian solutions, fluid elasticity leads to up to 35% slower propulsion. Furthermore, self-propulsion decreases as e...

Undulatory swimming in non-Newtonian fluids

We numerically investigate the effects of non-Newtonian fluid properties, including shear thinning and elasticity, on the locomotion of Taylor’s swimming sheet with arbitrary amplitude. Our results show that elasticity hinders the swimming speed, but a shear-thinning viscosity in the absence of elasticity enhances the speed. The combination of the two effects, modelled using a Giesekus constitu...
